Child Protection & Safeguarding

Protection starts with Love and Humanity.

At the Library Monitor Association, we believe that protection starts not with suspicion, but with love, dignity, and humanity.

Too often, safeguarding becomes a system of fear, where children feel interrogated instead of understood, monitored instead of supported, and treated as problems to be managed rather than people to be cared for.

While safeguarding policies are designed with good intentions, we recognise that the way they are applied can sometimes create distress, humiliation, and emotional harm for the very young people they are supposed to protect.

We choose a different approach.
Our philosophy is simple: children deserve compassion before judgement, understanding before assumption, and trust before accusation. Protection should never strip away a young person's dignity or voice. Real safeguarding is not about treating every child as guilty until proven innocent, it is about creating environments where students feel safe, respected, listened to, and genuinely cared for.

We protect because we love.
We intervene because we are human.
And we believe that empathy, kindness, and respect are among the strongest forms of protection any community can offer.
At the end of the day, safeguarding is not paperwork. It's people.
